Huong Tram's management company said that the authorities have clarified the incident and have taken action to punish the unit that posted false information about her.
"The information on social networks and electronic news sites that recently appeared regarding me and my family members is false. The illegal acts have been verified and handled according to regulations. This result has protected my legitimate rights and interests," said Huong Tram.
On the evening of October 1, Chief Inspector of the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City fined Helios Media Company Limited 10 million VND according to Penalty Decision No. 30/QD-XPHC.
This company is the entity that registered to use the general electronic information website http://langviet.vn. In addition to paying a fine of 10 million VND, Helios Media Company Limited removed the article "Huong Tram joins the group of Vietnamese stars giving birth in the US?" on the website http://langviet.vn and posted an apology to singer Huong Tram.
Previously, Huong Tram sent a complaint to the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City, requesting to handle the person who spread the rumor that she went to the US to give birth. In the complaint, the female singer stated that many photos of her with two children appeared on social networks, accompanied by the title "artist Huong Tram is pregnant, gave birth to twins, gave birth to a rich man's child, gave birth in the US".
"The incident attracted a large number of viewers, along with thousands of negative comments, defaming and insulting me and my relatives...", Huong Tram stated in the petition.
Through the complaint, Huong Tram requested the agency to verify and handle news sites and social networks that report false information according to the law.
Huong Tram returned to Vietnam in April this year, five years after announcing a temporary hiatus from the entertainment industry to study in the US. The singer confirmed that she has no children. If she does, she will make the information public on social media.
