Before this development, a representative of the publisher Galaxy Studio issued a press release, calling on the media and audience to join hands to prevent copyright infringement.
This unit said that secretly filming and posting part or all of the film in any direct or indirect form is a violation of the law, seriously infringing copyright and related rights. These acts not only cause damage to the producer and distributor but also directly affect the efforts of the entire creative team.
The publisher emphasized that, according to current legal regulations, especially the Law on Intellectual Property and the Cinema Law, cinematic works are protected by copyright right from the time they are created and expressed in a certain material form. All acts of copying, distributing or transmitting works to the public without the permission of the copyright owner are considered violations and may be handled according to regulations, and may even be subject to criminal sanctions depending on the level of damage.
Galaxy Studio said it has recorded some accounts on social networking platforms posting illegal recordings of the movie "Thỏ ơi!!". This unit has made records, collected data, recorded links, accounts and related information to serve as a basis for handling. At the same time, the distributor is coordinating with competent authorities to verify the source of distribution, trace related individuals and organizations for handling according to legal regulations.
Through the announcement, the distributor affirms that it will resolutely protect the legitimate rights and interests of the work, and at the same time calls on audiences not to film secretly, not to share or assist in illegal dissemination acts not only for "Thỏ ơi!!" but for all feature films. According to this unit, respecting copyright is not only complying with the law but also a practical way to support the film industry and genuine professionals.
Regarding the legal basis, Article 14 of the Law on Intellectual Property (amended and supplemented in 2022) defines cinematic works belonging to groups of works protected by copyright. Article 20 stipulates that the owner has the exclusive right to perform or allow others to perform property rights such as copying, distributing and transmitting works to the public. Meanwhile, Article 28 clearly states acts of copyright infringement, including copying or disseminating works without the owner's permission.
In addition, Article 9 of the 2022 Cinema Law also stipulates prohibited acts, including the illegal copying, recording, and dissemination of films in any form. These regulations aim to ensure a legal mechanism to protect cinematographic works as a specific type of intellectual property, while protecting the rights of organizations and individuals producing and distributing films.
