On the morning of October 18, the Organizing Committee of the Traditional Festival to celebrate the 157th anniversary of the sacrifice of National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc (1868 - 2025) held an incense offering ceremony at Nguyen Trung Truc Monument Park.
At the ceremony, delegates and people from all over offered incense at the monument to Mr. Nguyen Trung Truc, expressing their respect for the national hero who heroically sacrificed for the cause of fighting against foreign invaders and defending the Fatherland.
A large number of people and tourists from near and far participated in the parade on a road longer than 2km. The parade groups were arranged in order from carriages to lion teams, water flag cars, vehicles carrying the spirit of Mr. Nguyen, pilgrim groups, traditional drum ensembles and people from all walks of life...
With a strong patriotism and deep hatred for the enemy, the young fishing village youth Nguyen Trung Truc practiced military strategy, combining talent to participate in the uprising with Truong Cong Dinh in Go Cong. In 1861, he led a resounding attack to burn the French ship Eseprance on the Nhat Tao River. In 1868, despite being imprisoned and tortured, facing death, he still stood guard against the heroic spirit that affirmed to the enemy: "When will the West ripen all the Southern grass before the South strikes the West". Although he passed away, his scent will remain with history, in the hearts of the people.
The traditional festival commemorating the 157th anniversary of the sacrifice of National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc takes place from October 17 to October 19 (from August 26 to August 28 of the lunar calendar). The traditional ceremony took place at the relic site and Nguyen Trung Truc Monument Park, including: flower offering, a festival, an incense offering ceremony, a herd offering ceremony... This is also an opportunity to contribute to educating people and tourists about the tradition of patriotism, national pride and promoting the cultural tourism image of the province.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Trung Ho, Head of the Festival Organizing Committee, said: The name Nguyen Trung Truc is associated with two resounding feats that captivated the hearts of the people of Nam Ky Luc Tinh, two battles that demonstrated the athletics, commanding spirit and steadfast spirit of the cloth hero.
Nguyen Trung Truc - Son of the Southern River, devoted his entire life to the country's rivers, his life was short but brilliant in the sky of the Fatherland, lasting with the nation and time.
Today, more than a century has passed, but the spirit of Nguyen Trung Truc still lives forever in the hearts of every Vietnamese person, in the fields of Ta Nien, in the sound of Hon Chong waves, in the life of the people of An Giang today as a lights passed down, reminding us about patriotism, weather and humanity.
Today, before the Son of God, the children of An Giang, I would like to offer incense to respect and resolutely build an increasingly rich and beautiful homeland. worthy of human sacrifice and indomitable spirit. The name of the person will shine forever in the South, like an immortal sparkling wind on the national highway of Vietnam.
