Recently, when audiences compared the image of a martial general in Chinese historical films, 50-year-old actor Peter Ho became the most noticed name on social media platforms, thanks to the role of General Xiang Yu in the movie "Han Chu Legend" broadcast 14 years ago.
His steadfast temperament and brave demeanor are praised as "the pinnacle of ancient martial arts generals".
But in a recent interview, Ha Nhuan Dong humbly said he "does not dare to accept" the title of "master of martial arts". He shared that he is very "honored to have the opportunity to play the historical character Xiang Yu".
At the same time, Ha Nhuan Dong said he was "lucky" that the role from more than a decade ago was interested again.
The actor added: "The hardships at that time, thinking back now, are nothing. After more than ten years, this role has been watched again by everyone, I feel like I have just relived a dream.
It has been more than 10 years since filming wrapped, in fact, the character Hang Vu has also left me quite a long time ago, but it is still one of my favorite roles since I entered the profession. Now being recognized by everyone again, I feel extremely honored.
Ha Nhuan Dong also admitted that because of his small bones, before filming "Han So Legend", he actively trained to gain muscle, and his weight once reached more than 80kg.
The armor is very heavy, you have to be strong enough to resist it, and you also have to swing the blades, so the requirements for physical strength and muscle endurance are very high," the actor recalled.
According to Chinese media, in 2012, when playing Xiang Yu, Peter Ho had to film in -17 degrees Celsius weather, he was shirtless filming a battle scene, wearing a heavy armor, just standing there he exuded overwhelming spirit.
The actor personally participated in designing action scenes, even requesting to add close-up scenes and weapon use drills.
Ha Nhuan Dong also refused to shoot close-ups in slow-motion, all horse riding and fighting scenes were performed by himself, blood and dust soaked in the costumes.
Chen Daoming once praised Peter Ho: "He has shown the punishing spirit of Xiang Yu".

According to QQ, Peter Ho is an actor who "has taken on all the characters that men crave to play".
In 2001, Ha Nhuan Dong's role of Bo Kinh Van in "Phong Van Hung Ba Thien Ha" with instant noodle hair and a handless image became childhood memories of many generations. In the same year, Ha Nhuan Dong played Mao Kiet in "Ngoc Quan Am" which was both haunting and passionate.
Later, he also played Lu Bu in "The New Three Kingdoms", Au Than in "Summer Balloon", Ngo Binh in "That Year Flowers Bloom, Full Moon"...
From a war god of martial arts to a gentle referee, from a historical hero to a romantic young master, Ha Nhuan Dong transforms flexibly, using acting to conquer character types with great contrast.
