Vietnam's box office enters a vibrant period of the National Day holiday when three domestic films simultaneously recorded remarkable revenue on September 1st.
According to box office figures, "Summer Break Afraid of Retirement" grossed more than 10 billion VND, "Quý tử vượt giàu" reached more than 5.7 billion VND, while "Hộ linh tráng sĩ: Bí ẩn mộ vua Đinh" brought in nearly 3 billion VND. In total, the three works grossed nearly 19 billion VND in just one day on September 1.
Summer vacation fears retirement" approaches 160 billion VND
Among the three films, Huynh Lap's "Summer Break Afraid of Retirement" has the biggest advantage. After more than 10 days in theaters, the film achieved a total revenue of about 158 billion VND.
On September 1st alone, the work grossed more than 10 billion VND, showing that ticket sales are still maintained even though it has entered its second week of screenings.
Summer vacation fears retirement" officially premiered on August 21. The work belongs to the family genre, comedy mixed with spiritual elements, continuing to mark Huynh Lap in the role of director after "Nha gia tien".
Screening earlier than competitors helps the film accumulate audiences and revenue before entering the peak of the holidays. With about 158 billion VND, the film is approaching the 160 billion VND mark.
Precious Son Overcomes Wealth" reaches 27 billion VND
Quy Tu vượt giàu" by director Nguyen Quang Dung is currently behind Huynh Lap's films in the Vietnamese artwork group.
On September 1st, the film grossed more than 5.7 billion VND, bringing total revenue to about 27 billion VND. The new work officially hit theaters from August 28th, so the National Day holiday is an important period for revenue growth.
The film stars Thu Trang, Tien Luat, Hao Khang and is Vietnamese-localized from the Chinese work "Successor". The story revolves around a wealthy family choosing a special method to educate their son.
Compared to "Summer Break Afraid of Retirement", Nguyen Quang Dung's film departed a week later. Revenue of more than 5.7 billion VND on September 1 shows that the work is taking advantage of the increased audience during the holiday.
Martyr's household" nearly reaches 20 billion VND
In the next position, "Ho Linh Trang Si: Mystery of King Dinh's Tomb" grossed nearly 3 billion VND on January 1. 9. The total revenue of the film is currently approaching 20 billion VND.
Director Nguyen Phan Quang Binh's work attracted attention because of the decision to change the editing right after release. After feedback from the first screenings, the crew coordinated with director and film editor Ham Tran to cut about 20 minutes, bringing the duration from 155 minutes to about 135 minutes.
The new remix is expected to help the film's pace be more concise, and at the same time, the shorter duration is also favorable for arranging screenings during peak periods.
Revenue of nearly 3 billion VND on September 1 shows that "Ho Linh Trang Si" has improved ticket sales, although there is still a gap with the two Vietnamese films ranked above.
