The inheritance dispute of late Meritorious Artist Vu Linh between the plaintiff, Ms. Vo Thi Hong Nhung, and the defendant, Ms. Vo Thi Hong Loan, is entering the appellate stage, expected to take place on April 22 in Ho Chi Minh City.
Before the trial, singer Hong Phuong, who has related rights and obligations, spoke out to share her family's views.
According to Hong Phuong sharing with Lao Dong Newspaper on the afternoon of April 10, the family has always "respected the law" and hopes that the court will consider the case objectively and reasonably. What the family is particularly concerned about is the legality in the dossier related to the establishment of Ms. Vo Thi Hong Loan's adoption relationship - a key factor determining inheritance rights.
Hong Phuong believes that it is necessary to clarify whether the adoption papers, birth certificates and related documents are complete and in accordance with legal regulations or not. The family also expressed their desire that the issues they consider "not true" will be clarified in court, so that the public can understand the nature of the case.
Not only stopping at the legal aspect, Hong Phuong emphasized the emotional element when saying that the family's biggest wish is to partially fulfill the wish of the late NSƯT Vu Linh, so that he can be at peace. According to Hong Phuong, the court's ruling is not only about property division but also needs to consider morality and family affection.
Previously, the first-instance judgment of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court determined that Ms. Vo Thi Hong Loan was a legal adopted daughter, belonging to the first line of inheritance and entitled to 85% of the inheritance of the late Meritorious Artist Vu Linh. Meanwhile, Ms. Vo Thi Hong Nhung, although belonging to the second line of inheritance, still enjoyed 15% due to her contribution to caring for the late artist, based on the principle of fairness.
However, after the first-instance trial, both parties and related people appealed. Ms. Hong Loan did not agree to divide 15% of the inheritance to Ms. Nhung, while Ms. Nhung proposed to cancel the documents related to the adoption and requested to re-determine the line of succession.
