On the afternoon of August 13, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper, Huynh Lap shared about the pressure of simultaneously taking on two busy scheduled tasks: completing the movie "Summer Break, Afraid of Retirement" and participating in the program "Older Brothers Overcoming Thousands of Hardships".
The male director admitted that he was almost "stuck" with time. The program's recording schedule took place while the film was entering a stage where he needed to closely follow many important stages. Therefore, Huynh Lap had to take advantage of each break to handle the work.
According to the male artist, during the filming of "Anh Trai Vuot Ngan Chong Gai", he often sat in a corner to read, review the script and check the film's line. Huynh Lap tried to arrange the schedule to ensure that participating in the program did not affect the responsibility of a director.
When talking about his journey in "Anh Trai Vuot Ngan Chong Gai", Huynh Lap blurted out a secret related to the program. However, he quickly stopped, withdrew his words and humorously said he did not dare to reveal it because he was afraid of "eating the record".
Huynh Lap's cautious reaction shows that artists must comply with content security regulations before the program officially airs. The male director did not elaborate on the information just mentioned, to avoid affecting the producer's plans.
Besides the pressure of time, Huynh Lap frankly shared his expectations for the revenue of "Summer Break, Afraid of Retirement". After the success of "Fatherland House", he hopes the new work can exceed the revenue of 242 billion VND of the previous film.
According to Huynh Lap, this desire does not only come from the goal of achievement. Good revenue will help him and his crew have more resources to reinvest and continue to implement film projects afterwards. This is also a significant pressure because "Nha gia tien" once created a box office effect and helped Huynh Lap's name be noticed in the role of film director.
Summer vacation fears retirement" belongs to the family genre, combining humor and spiritual elements.
The idea of the work originated from the time Huynh Lap visited the cemetery and was haunted by the graves that have not been identified. He spent about half a year completing the script after "Nha gia tien". Experience in the program "Sao nhap ngu", where he had the opportunity to interact and listen to the stories of the soldiers, also became the material for the project.
The film gathers NSƯT Cao Minh, Hua Vi Van, Hong Anh, Phuong Thanh, Cody Nam Vo, Tin Nguyen and Huynh Lap. Among them, Cody Nam Vo takes on the main role in cinema for the first time, while NSƯT Cao Minh plays grandfather Thoi - the central character in the journey connecting the past with the present.
