On September 3, the opening ceremony of the 12th Tourism Promotion Organization for Global Cities (TPO) meeting took place in Ho Chi Minh City.
In his opening speech, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said that Ho Chi Minh City is one of the founding cities and the only city in Vietnam to hold the role of Member of the TPO Executive Committee.
In the journey of more than 2 decades, Ho Chi Minh City has always been proud to actively contribute to the activities of the organization, constantly promoting tourism development linkages and cooperation between members, affirming its central role in tourism development in the region. The hosting of the TPO General Assembly this time is an important milestone, clearly demonstrating Ho Chi Minh City's responsibility and commitment to promoting synchronous, creative and sustainable regional tourism development.
As a member of the Executive Committee and a host city, through meetings, leadership conferences, bilateral and multilateral connection programs of member cities, the 2025 TPO General Assembly will build and unify a common message, make a common statement with highly feasible practical initiatives to promote sustainable development of tourism.
Ho Chi Minh City's pioneering initiative in proposing initiatives in the general statement of this General Assembly will continue to be maintained and developed in the following activities to enhance the connection between members of the organization according to the common goal being towards.
Ms. Kang Da-eun - General Secretary of TPO, General Secretary of the Global Cities Tourism Promotion Organization shared the theme of the 12th Congress "Shaping the future of the tourism industry: Towards digital transformation and green transformation" reflecting the challenges and opportunities of the current era.
Digital innovation strengthens connectivity and enhances experience, while green transformation ensures sustainable and comprehensive growth. With this orientation, tourism will become a strong driving force for prosperity and development of TPO member cities.
The TPO program takes place in parallel with ITE HCMC 2025 - the largest tourism fair in Vietnam.
TPO is organized with thematic seminars, high-level forums and bilateral conferences focusing on solutions to apply digital technology and develop sustainable tourism, helping Ho Chi Minh City update trends and build appropriate tourism strategies.
