The conference is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST). This is also an event in a series of activities to celebrate Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Day (April 19).
Attending the conference were representatives of 54 ethnic groups from 34 provinces and cities; a team of village elders, village chiefs, artisans, and prestigious people playing a core role in transmitting and spreading traditional cultural values.

Speaking at the opening, Ms. Trinh Thi Thuy, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasized that the 14th National Party Congress and Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW of the Politburo affirm that culture is not only a spiritual foundation but also an important resource to promote socio-economic development in the new era. In which, the culture of ethnic minorities is one of the pillars, contributing to sustainable economic development.
The conference focused on evaluating the results of the work of preserving and promoting the cultural values of ethnic minorities in the past period, and at the same time discussed in-depth and comprehensively about local practices. Through this, propose key solutions to preserve and promote the cultural heritage values of ethnic groups in the coming time. The culture, sports and tourism sector is also responsible for researching and advising on building plans suitable to reality, contributing to the effective implementation of tasks in the new growth context.

In the period 2021 - 2025, ethnic culture work has achieved many positive results. Mechanisms and policies have been gradually improved; many cultural values have been preserved and restored; models linking preservation with tourism and livelihoods have initially been effective. In particular, a clear shift in thinking has been formed from simple preservation to preservation associated with development.
However, ethnic culture work still has some limitations: Policy mechanisms are not synchronized; disbursement progress is slow; some models are unsustainable; digital transformation is still limited; grassroots human resources are still weak...
Reporting on ethnic culture work in the period 2021 - 2025 and key task orientations for the period 2026 - 2031, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Nhung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups, said that in recent years many localities have proactively developed plans, allocated resources, integrated with related programs and projects to implement the contents of Project 6.
In the period 2021 - 2025, many programs and projects have been implemented synchronously, in which the organization of more than 30 typical traditional festivals of ethnic minorities is prominent; building and operating 45 cultural preservation models associated with tourism development; establishing more than 20 folk cultural activity clubs in localities...


In addition, the system of grassroots cultural institutions continues to be concerned with investment with 3,220 cultural houses and sports areas in villages and hamlets being newly built and renovated. Training and fostering work is also focused on when over 60 professional training classes have been organized for grassroots cultural officials, artisans and the community.
In addition, many regional and national-scale cultural exchange and festival activities are organized annually, attracting the participation of hundreds of artisans and a large number of people. These events not only contribute to heritage preservation but also spread traditional cultural values in modern life.
Not only is it a forum for professional exchange, the conference is also an opportunity to honor and reward village elders, village chiefs, artisans and prestigious people who have made many contributions to preserving and promoting traditional cultural identity. This is considered the core force in preserving cultural heritage in the community, contributing to the diversity and richness of Vietnamese culture.
