The Management Board of Bat Xat Nature Reserve has just issued an urgent warning: from April 14-20, 2026, the risk of forest fires in the area is at level V (extremely dangerous), which may break out and spread quickly on a large scale.
Faced with this situation, the locality requested to completely ban the use of fire in the forest and along the forest, and at the same time stop all tourism and sightseeing activities. People are not allowed to burn fields, treat vegetation or bring flammable materials into the forest.
Functional forces organize 24/24 hour duty, strengthen patrols, strictly control people entering and leaving the forest, especially in key areas. Units also prepare the "four on-site" motto to promptly respond when a fire occurs.
According to a mountain climbing tour business, before the warning of a high risk of forest fires, some famous trekking spots in Lao Cai such as Ky Quan San, Nhiu Co San will temporarily stop operating. It is expected that tours may reopen around September-October 2026.
The 4-5 month suspension period is considered an opportunity for forest ecosystems to recover after a period of pressure from trekking activities.
At the same time, the organizing units and porter teams also take advantage of reviewing and improving procedures, strengthening skills training such as first aid, professional guidance to ensure safety for tourists in the coming time.
The Management Board emphasized that strict compliance with forest fire prevention and fighting regulations is a key factor to minimize possible damage.
