International visitor peak
The end of the year is the peak season for Kien Giang to welcome international tourists. According to the Kien Giang Provincial Department of Tourism, foreign tourists love to travel during this time because it is their winter vacation but it is the low season for domestic tourists.
According to the Department of Tourism, many tourism businesses proactively innovate their products by increasing experiences and services, improving service quality, catching up with holiday trends such as Christmas or preparing for the New Year, thereby extending the length of stay, increasing service usage and allowing customers to grasp the schedule and be more proactive in their choices.
Ms. Lam Thi Diem Tram - Director of Phu Quoc Pearl Island Tourism Company Limited - said that from October to April next year, most of the flights are Charter flights, so the company has an early plan to welcome partners such as Mongolia, Russia... Currently, the company is investing in a modern fleet of vehicles, signing long-term contracts to serve foreign partners, throughout 6 months. Meanwhile, in Ha Tien City, the focus is on exploiting historical, cultural, eco-tourism products, coastal and island tourism. The city continues to improve urban areas, tourist areas and spots.
Director of Kien Giang Province Department of Tourism Bui Quoc Thai also encouraged and called on the business community to continue researching and investing in developing high-class and multi-experience destinations, promoting the development of night tourism products.
Convenient visa, many flights connecting to Phu Quoc
In the first 9 months of 2024, there will be more than 8.3 million visitors to Kien Giang, nearly 737,000 international visitors, total tourism revenue of nearly 20,000 billion VND, of which Phu Quoc City is estimated to welcome more than 4.9 million visitors, total revenue reaching more than 16,000 billion VND.
Phu Quoc International Airport is currently operated by about 20 airlines, with more than 100 flights/week from various countries and territories. On October 28, the Can Tho - Phu Quoc route will reopen with a frequency of 5 pairs of flights/week.
Mr. Bui Quoc Thai also informed that Phu Quoc is currently the only destination in Vietnam with a special visa policy for foreigners and Vietnamese people holding foreign passports. Entry, exit, and residence on the island are visa-free, with a temporary stay of up to 30 days.
It is expected that from December 2024 to February 2025, Phu Quoc will welcome 5 cruise ships with tens of thousands of visitors coming to visit and relax.
Mr. Tran Minh Khoa - Chairman of Phu Quoc City People's Committee - informed that the locality is currently focusing on investing in tourism infrastructure, coordinating with related units and airlines to promote the opening of new flight routes, focusing on exploiting new international routes, improving the quality of service for tourists on the pearl island.
