Recently, Kim Soo Hyun confirmed his participation in a new promotional campaign of the Philippine fashion brand BENCH and will film a TVC commercial and take photos in Korea on July 14.
Previously, last month, the management company Gold Medalist also announced: "Kim Soo Hyun will participate in the advertising filming for BENCH on July 14th".
This is the first time the actor has returned to official activities after about 1 year and 4 months, since being involved in controversies stemming from the accusations of Kim Se Ui, who runs YouTube channel Garo Sero.
Notably, BENCH is also the brand that once chose Kim Soo Hyun as its representative in 2024. Although the actor is involved in scandals, the brand continues to accompany him, making this collaboration even more interested.
Kim Soo Hyun had to temporarily suspend all activities for 1 year and 4 months due to heavy losses from unfounded accusations made by YouTuber Kim Se Ui.
Previously, Kim Se Ui once confirmed that Kim Soo Hyun dated the late actress Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor.
However, according to police investigations, the recordings and conversations on the messaging application that Kim Se Ui published were all determined by the investigating agency to have been forged.
Finally, Kim Se Ui was prosecuted and detained on many charges, including defamation by disclosing false information. He is currently being held at the Seoul Detention Center, and the first trial is scheduled to take place in August.
Meanwhile, Kim Soo Hyun has a project awaiting broadcast, which is the original "Knock-Off" series from the Disney+ platform.
This project has been postponed since last year due to the actor's private life scandal, but so far, as many cases related to Kim Soo Hyun are progressing, the producer has not yet announced whether the film will be released or not.
On July 8, the Eider brand withdrew its initial compensation request related to Kim Soo Hyun and there was a major change in the amount of compensation requested.
This brand once appointed Kim Soo Hyun as an advertising model last year, but filed a lawsuit in August 2025 after allegations emerged that the actor had dated late actress Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor. The company believes that these controversies have damaged the brand image.
But after Kim Se Ui was arrested, Eider reduced Kim Soo Hyun's compensation claim from about 2.5 billion won to about 400 million won.
This is the first case in which an advertiser withdrew a multi-billion won compensation request for Kim Soo Hyun after Kim Se Ui was arrested, and only retained the request to return the remuneration according to the contract.
