Kim Soo Hyun reappears after a year of storms
According to Korean media, Kim Soo Hyun will participate in filming an advertisement for the Philippine fashion brand on July 14. This is a brand that the actor has cooperated with for many years.
The fact that a brand continues to choose Kim Soo Hyun as the representative face is considered a positive sign for the career of the actor born in 1988.
In the advertising industry, the image and reputation of the representative are of particular importance. Therefore, the decision to keep Kim Soo Hyun of this brand is considered by many people as a remarkable turning point after a period of turmoil.
Previously, Kim Soo Hyun fell into the center of controversy when the YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute issued accusations that he had dated the late actress Kim Sae Ron since she was a minor. This information quickly spread on social networks, greatly affecting the image and commercial activities of the male actor.
However, the situation of the case has changed significantly after Mr. Kim Se Ui - head of the Garo Sero Institute - was arrested on charges of defamation through spreading false information.
Legal developments beneficial to the actor
According to the published investigation results, authorities determined that some documents used as evidence in the broadcasts of the Garo Sero Institute showed signs of being fabricated. Police believe that the voice of late actress Kim Sae Ron was edited using generative AI technology, while conversations on the KakaoTalk application that were published were also identified as fake.
The court then approved the arrest warrant for Kim Se Ui on the grounds of the risk of destroying evidence and fleeing.
The request to reconsider the legality of detention filed by him was also rejected.
On June 5, Kim Soo Hyun's Goldmedalist management company issued a notice stating that allegations related to difamation, harassment, violation of the law on penalties for sexual offenses as well as threats and coercion have been recorded by the investigating agency and transferred to the procuracy.
Meanwhile, attention is currently shifting to civil lawsuits related to the actor.
On June 10, the Suwon District Court will open the third hearing in the lawsuit for compensation for damages worth about 3.96 billion won between functional food company FromBio and Kim Soo Hyun and Goldmedalist.
This is the first civil trial to take place after Kim Se Ui was arrested. Observers believe that the latest criminal investigation results could become an important factor, significantly impacting the direction of lawsuits being closely monitored in South Korea.
