The lawyer described Kim Soo Hyun gradually restoring his reputation after suffering serious image damage due to cyberattacks and public accusations.
He said: "He has fallen into a situation where his personal reputation and dignity are almost completely destroyed. Currently, the most important thing for him is to regain his daily life and normal feelings as before.
The lawyer also mentioned public attention to the lawsuit, which is said to be worth about 30 billion won (nearly 20 million USD). He said that the important thing is not the compensation figure but clarifying the truth.
Instead of focusing too much on a specific number, what is more important is that the truth must be clarified and society needs to create an environment for the actor to return to his rightful position," the lawyer said.
He also commented on new developments related to Kim Se Ui - head of the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute (Garo Sero) - after information about the arrest warrant application for this man was announced.
The lawyer commented: "It is very rare for an arrest warrant application to be more than 30 pages long. This shows that the investigating agency has a significant level of confidence in proving the allegations against Kim Se Ui and related people.
On May 26, Kim Se Ui was urgently arrested on charges of defaming actor Kim Soo Hyun.
Kim Se Ui is accused of spreading through YouTube and many other channels false information that Kim Soo Hyun dated the late actress Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor, and also believes that the direct cause of Kim Sae Ron's death was debt repayment pressure from Kim Soo Hyun.
This YouTuber is also accused of using AI to imitate Kim Sae Ron's voice, creating content such as: "The first time having sex with Kim Soo Hyun was during the winter break of 8th grade", thereby damaging Kim Soo Hyun's honor.
