On June 6, the second Ho Chi Minh City Short Film Festival in 2026 officially opened. The event was attended by city leaders and representatives of departments, agencies and a large number of artists and filmmakers.
This year's film festival takes place in a special context when Ho Chi Minh City was just recognized by UNESCO as a Creative City in the field of cinema on October 31, 2025. Continuing the success of the first season in 2023, this year's festival is organized to realize the city's commitment to UNESCO in developing the cultural industry and nurturing young human resources.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Duong Cam Thuy - Chairwoman of the City Cinema Association, Head of the Organizing Committee affirmed that the organization of the Short Film Festival is extremely necessary to create a space for exchange and transfer of experience between the previous generation and young filmmakers, thereby discovering talented faces who are passionate about the seventh art. As evidence of that attraction, this year's film festival has attracted more than 100 entries in the categories: feature films, documentaries and animated films.

Within the framework of the event taking place from June 5 to June 7, the Ho Chi Minh City Short Film Festival brings a series of in-depth activities such as the "Creative Lens" seminar, AI application workshop for filmmakers, along with school movie screenings and experience sharing exchanges. Not only stopping at an art playground, the event affirms its role as a launching pad for professional and amateur filmmakers, contributing to positioning the Ho Chi Minh City film brand. At the end of the series of activities, the closing ceremony and awards ceremony of the film festival will take place on June 8.
