On the evening of October 18, the final round of the Miss Grand International 2025 contest took place in Bangkok (Thailand) with the competition of more than 70 contestants from all over the world.
The representative of Vietnam - Miss Nguyen Thi Yen Nhi - missed the Top 22 and did not win any subsidiary awards, officially "empty-handed" in this beauty arena.

As soon as she was crowned Miss Grand Vietnam 2025, Yen Nhi was expected to be a face that could extend Vietnam's impressive achievement streak at Miss Grand International, especially since Vietnam once had a Miss crown and a 4th Runner-up crown at this contest.
However, the reality was contrary to expectations when the Vietnamese representative quickly dropped in the rankings and failed to create attraction throughout the competition.
Just a few days after entering the competition, Yen Nhi was involved in a series of scandals on the sidelines. She was criticized for her weak English ability, revealing her uncontrolled communication style in a phone call that was broadcast live on the livestream of her roommate (representative of Indonesia).
In the conversation, the beauty was said to have disrespected the crew, the audience and the management company. Despite quickly apologizing publicly, Yen Nhi's image was severely affected, causing domestic audiences to "turn their backs".
At Miss Grand International, audience voting always plays an important role, especially in the Miss Popular Vote category - an award that helps contestants go straight to the Top 10.
While Vietnamese representatives have always been in the leading group in voting, Yen Nhi has almost no votes, even the voting rate was once at 0%.
The reason is believed to come from the public's turned away from Yen Nhi's mouth-to- mouth scandal.
The lack of support from fans has caused the Vietnamese representative to completely "leg up" against opponents from the Philippines, Thailand or Colombia - countries that already have a large number of fans.
On stage, Yen Nhi still tries to maintain a stable performance, standing out with her performance in the National Costume competition "Thang Long Hoi".

However, overall, she has not created a strong enough personal mark to be in the group of outstanding contestants.
Since 2016, Vietnam has always had a representative in the Top 20 of Miss Grand International.
The highest achievement was the crown of Miss Grand International (2021) and the 4th runner-up position of Le Hoang Phuong (2023).
Before Yen Nhi, Vo Le Que Anh - representing Vietnam at Miss Grand International 2024 - was also left empty-handed when she did not make it into the Top 20 and did not win the subsidiary award.

Fans believe that the reason for Yen Nhi's failure came from her urgent preparation (only nearly 2 weeks after being crowned in the country), lack of clear communication strategy and weak image management.
In addition, the Vietnamese beauty market is falling into a state of saturatedness, when there are too many competitions, causing the quality of contestants to be dispersed and the audience to gradually lose interest.
Obviously, a new strategy is needed in selecting contestants, training skills, image management and communication if beauty pageants in Vietnam want to restore their position on the international beauty map.
