After much expectation, the film "Choa don" used artificial intelligence (AI) to recreate the image of Miss Thuy Tien, which finally brought in only 5.1 billion VND in revenue - a figure that was too low compared to the production cost and the beauty's name (when not yet prosecuted).
The reason for this failure comes from many factors, the most important of which is the wrong choice of letting AI completely replace real artists.
First of all, Thuy Tien's appeal has declined after she was prosecuted in the Kera candy case even though the beauty was initially a star with a large fan base. This is what caused the film to lose its biggest advantage - the attraction of the star.
Second, the technical limitations of AI are still very clear. Although technology has developed, facial expressions, eye movements or body gestures of virtual characters have not yet reached their natural level. Many viewers commented that Thuy Tien's image in the film is more like cartoons than a movie actress, creating an uncomfortable "fake" feeling.
Third, the emotional connection between actors was broken. Acting is a process of resonance, co-stars must exchanged emotions directly to create authenticity. When a character is created with AI, this communication almost disappears, making many scenes awkward, the drama is significantly reduced.
The media and public psychology also contributed to the failure. Right from the announcement of the idea of using AI to replace real people, the crew received a strong reaction. The audience did not have much faith in the project when the film was released.
Moreover, an equally important factor is that "Closing the don" has quite young content, not convincing the audience. The film has many logical errors, not too impressive compared to other projects outside the theater.
As a result, instead of creating a breakthrough, the film only stopped at 5.1 billion VND. It can be seen that technology can support special effects, editing or recreating the past, but genuine emotions are still the only factor in keeping the audience.
