As of noon on August 4, the film "Mother leaves" has earned 80 billion VND and continues to hold the No. 1 position at the box office, surpassing foreign blockbusters such as the superstitious quartet, Conan...
The work received many compliments for its emotional elements and the harmonious combination between Hong Dao and Tuan Tran. However, the film also encountered a lot of controversy from a part of the audience and experts.
Many opinions say that the film is not clear in terms of setting and character motivation, such as the reason why Hoan (Tuan Tran) had to take care of his mother alone, or the fact that Hoan decided to " leave" his mother to his brother in Korea, whom he himself did not know the face of, had never met, or whether he was still alive or not. These details make the plot a long and unconvincing thunderstorm.
The film was also criticized for having a flow of negative emotions, with many repetitive tragic scenes. Some viewers believe that the film intentionally "pushed" the tragedy to bring tears to viewers, but because of its special lack of climax, it can easily cause a feeling of fatigue and heaviness.
A big minus is that the end of the film was "ignored". The scene where Hoan took his mother to Korea to meet his brother but in the end did not meet him and returned to Vietnam with his mother caused controversy. Some opinions say that if the film had been delayed for a few more minutes to solve this bottleneck, it would have been more complete.
After more than 100 minutes of following the psychological trauma and burden that the character went through, the audience expected a warm, emotional or at least reasonable ending. However, the lack of climax and lack of fluctuations in the film did not push the audience's emotions up.
Tuan Tran has made efforts in acting, but some other actors have not yet shown the characters they play. Although Hong Dao has a lot of acting experience, some audiences think that she acts like a crazy person rather than a person with Alzheimer's disease.
Even the title "Bringing mother away" when it was initially released was shocking and considered unsuitable for Vietnamese culture. However, the producer explained that this title does not fully reflect the humanistic spirit of the work.
The film "Mother leaves" is a Vietnam - Korea cooperation project, directed by Mo Hong-jin and produced by Phan Gia Nhat Linh. The film depicts the emotional journey of a son while caring for his mother with Alzheimer's disease.
Through the story of motherhood, bringing motherhood to the brink conveys a strong message about the value of family, while expanding the aspects of friendship, love and sharing between people in difficult circumstances.
