Expanding visas
On March 7, the Government issued Resolution No. 44 on visa exemption for citizens of Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland. Citizens holding passports from the above 12 countries are allowed to stay in Vietnam for 45 days from the date of entry, regardless of passport type or purpose of entry, on the basis of meeting the entry conditions as prescribed by Vietnamese law. Previously, the 45-day visa exemption policy for citizens of Poland, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland officially took effect from January 1 to the end of 2025.
Talking with Lao Dong, Mr. Nguyen Cong Hoan - General Director of Flamingo Redtours - commented that visa easing such as extending the validity period and expanding electronic visas is to facilitate tourists entering and leaving Vietnam.
Simplifying visa procedures shows Vietnam's welcome to tourists. This policy helps businesses have more markets and customers. extending the visa period to 45 days not only attracts tourists but also helps investors have time to survey and seek investment opportunities in Vietnam. In fact, after each visa simplification policy, the number of tourists from countries that are beneficiaries of these procedures has increased significantly, said Mr. Nguyen Cong Hoan.
Sharing the same view, Mr. Bui Thanh Tu - Marketing Director of Best Price, the visa expansion will create competitiveness with neighboring countries such as Thailand, Cambodia... who have implemented this policy for quite a long time. In addition, this is also an opportunity for domestic businesses to cooperate with international travel businesses to bring customers to Vietnam.
Mr. Tu cited: When the policy of loosening visas for Poland was applied, tourism companies in Poland immediately organized tours to Phu Quoc for about 62 million VND for 16 days. Vietnamese enterprises will have more opportunities to cooperate with foreign enterprises to welcome guests. We have also opened a representative office in Poland to better support tourists.
Attracting billionaire customers
Recently, Vietnam has been a destination for many billionaires, using high-end services and attracting the attention of the media.
Mr. Nguyen Cong Hoan commented that Vietnam has many factors to attract high-end customers. Accordingly, Vietnam has a stable political security situation, tourism infrastructure has been well invested in recent years. Many tourist establishments and resorts in Vietnam meet international standards.
In recent times, Vietnam has promoted tourism promotion, improved the quality of human resources and the value of tourism services such as culture, cuisine and other utilities. In particular, the open visa policy is also an important factor attracting tourists.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, many travel businesses have quickly designed high-end tours, exclusively for super-rich and billionaire customers coming to Vietnam.
Mr. Bui Thanh Tu said that in the near future, the company will launch a private high-end brand to serve this group of customers and at the same time design specific tours, which can be personalized to suit the needs of this special group of customers.
To do this, we must strive to exchange and learn from foreign partners in designing high-end tourism products and services. At the same time, we are making efforts to promote to attract the attention of billionaire customers, said Mr. Tu.
At the regular Government meeting in February 2025, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism study appropriate visa policies, especially for traditional friends, diversify visa exemptions for some countries and billionaires in the world.
