This is not only an honor but also a great responsibility," People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi shared with reporters when being elected Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association for the term 2026 - 2031.
The female artist said that the election result with a high number of confidence votes is a great source of encouragement, and also a positive pressure for her to try harder in the upcoming journey.
The Chairman's chair is not an honor to be proud of for myself, but a responsibility to listen, share and accompany artists. I came to this mission with respect for previous generations, with love for the stage and with the desire to contribute a small part to keep the fire of the profession for today and the future," she expressed.
According to People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi, what she is most concerned about today is that the lives of theater artists are still facing many difficulties, especially in the socialized theater sector. Therefore, in the new term, the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association will continue to promote its role in connecting, caring for the lives of artists and creating conditions for art units to develop more sustainably.
I will try to work with the Executive Committee to inherit the achievements of previous generations of leaders to continue to care for the lives of artists, connect theater forces and contribute to bringing Ho Chi Minh City's theater to develop in the new stage," the female artist said.
Previously, the Congress of Delegates of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association for the term 2026 - 2031 took place on June 8 and 9 at Tran Huu Trang Cai Luong Theater with the participation of 149 delegates.
The election results showed that NSND Trinh Kim Chi received the highest approval rating when she won 144/148 valid votes, equivalent to 97.2%.
Before being elected as Chairwoman, she served as Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association and Head of the Artist Friendship Department. Over the years, People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi has made her mark with a series of charitable activities, mobilizing resources to support disadvantaged artists, visiting elderly artists and maintaining many meaningful programs for the theater community.
In parallel with association work, the female artist is still actively involved in art. She runs a drama stage named after herself, participating in directing many works such as "Rang tram bau", "Hai nguoi me", "Ngay ay khoat troi", "Blouse trang"... In 2024, she completed her master's program at Hanoi University of Theater and Cinema.
