In the film, Meritorious Artist Hoai Linh plays teacher Thach - a shaman who goes through many upheavals, has a complex inner world and plays an important role in the film. This is considered a character with many psychological depths, associated with Mother Goddess worship - a field that the male artist has special interest in in real life.
The producer said that this role was "tailor-made" for Hoai Linh because of the similarity in spiritual life and love for Vietnamese traditional culture.
Director and screenwriter Mai The Hiep shared that he had sent scripts to Hoai Linh many times before the male artist agreed to participate in the project.

Initially, Mr. Linh did not accept. I had to send scripts to him many times and share a lot. After reading the 6th and 7th versions, he agreed to participate," the director said.
According to Mai The Hiep, Hoai Linh is not only suitable for the role in terms of acting but also makes many contributions in the process of building the character. The male artist contributed more ideas on psychology, contradictions and inner depth to make teacher Thach's role more realistic.
Linh himself loves Vietnamese culture very much, so this role is quite suitable for him both in personality and spirit," the director added.
In recent years, Hoai Linh has returned to more vibrant film activities. He made his mark through the image of a hard-working father in "Làm giàu với ma" and continued to appear in part two of the project. Both works achieved hundreds of billions of VND in revenue, marking a notable milestone in the male artist's wide-screen career.
Besides Hoai Linh, the film also features Hanh Thuy in the role of Mrs. Xoan - another spirit medium. In addition, the project gathers many faces such as: Phuong Thanh, Mai Ngo, Vo Dang Khoa, Thanh Huong and Meritorious Artist Van Bau.
According to the crew, "The Chosen One" exploits the story revolving around the belief in Mother Goddess worshiping Tam Phu, Tu Phu - a typical folk culture of Vietnamese people. Director Mai The Hiep said that he implemented the project with the desire to spread traditional cultural values to young audiences through cinema.
