3 Vietnamese films top the box office on September 2nd
An interesting point of this year's holiday is that all three Vietnamese films starring Viet Huong, Hoai Linh, and Quyen Linh are at the top of the box office, surpassing foreign films.
According to Box Office Vietnam, the film that has been holding the top spot at the box office for many consecutive days is the project "Getting Rich with Ghosts" starring Hoai Linh. Premiering early on August 30, the film earned more than 32 billion VND. On the morning of September 2 alone, the film earned nearly 4 billion VND with the highest number of screenings being 2,711.
The film starring Hoai Linh is considered to have many flaws in its content, but the actor's acting is a plus.
Meanwhile, ranked 2nd is the movie "Hai Muoi" starring Quyen Linh. The movie earned nearly 18 billion VND and on the morning of September 2 alone, the movie earned nearly 2 billion VND.
The film, starring Quyen Linh, initially won the hearts of the audience because it marked the 20th anniversary of the male artist's return to cinema. However, the film was criticized for having a dramatic feel and not having new content.
The most successful project this holiday is "Ma da" starring Viet Huong. Although it was released in mid-August, the film is still selling well. The project earned nearly 120 billion VND - becoming the highest-grossing Vietnamese horror film of all time.
On the morning of September 2 alone, the film earned more than 700 million VND and is currently ranked in the top 3. Previously, the project encountered controversy when many scenes of Thanh Loc and Cam Ly were cut from the film.
Foreign films have not had many breakthroughs.
Foreign films currently showing in Vietnamese theaters lack breakthroughs because there are not many projects that have made a splash.
Only Shin Chan the Pencil Boy is having good revenue as it is suitable for families with small children to go to theaters during the holidays. The film ranked in the top 4 with revenue of about 15 billion VND and on September 2 alone, the film brought in revenue of more than 600 million VND.
Super Chicken Dad is also an animated project suitable for children. The film has not had much breakthrough in terms of revenue when it only brought in over 1.8 billion VND, ranking 5th in revenue. On September 2, it was over 300 million VND.
The Female Pilot - the latest Korean film is considered funny, humorous, and suitable for viewing during the holidays, but its revenue is low, only reaching 2.4 billion VND. On September 2 alone, the film only had more than 300 million VND in ticket sales, temporarily ranking 6th.
