Humint" is the latest action project by director Ryu Seung Wan, set in Vladivostok (Russia).
The film follows Agent Jo (Jo In Sung), Head of Department Park Geon (Park Jung Min), Consul General Hwang Chi Seong (Park Hae Joon). Despite different motives, they encounter each other many times when they are related to restaurant staff Chae Seon Hwa (Shin Se Kyung).
The movie will be released in Korean cinemas on February 11 (December 24 of the lunar calendar) and officially reach 1 million tickets on February 17 (1st day of Tet). As of the morning of February 18 (2nd day of Tet), the movie sold an additional 100,000 tickets, raising the current total number of tickets to 1.1 million.
Although the plot is not too breakthrough, the film still retains audiences thanks to the balance between the conflict of power and emotions between the three men. Besides, the action and acting elements of the cast are highly appreciated.
Speaking about the work, Jo In Sung said that this is the 3rd time he has played an agent on screen, after "Escape from Mogadishu" and "Super Juniors". The male actor said that although these are special characters, after all, they are just ordinary workers.
No matter what your job is, you wake up in the morning with a stiff and tired body, pack your bags and leave the house. Me too. There are days, I walk to the studio, wondering what a day will be like today. And I have tried to put a part of that into the role" - he said.
The Korean star added that he restrained his expressions in this project. Because "Humint" has too many action scenes and close-ups, even frowns are exaggerated, so his goal is to do "the less the better".
Meanwhile, Park Jung Min also performed a romantic scene in a movie for the first time. For him, this is the genre that he is most worried about and feels most difficult about. However, instead of stuffing too many emotions, the male actor expressed it by greeting normally with a low voice tone.
“Previously, I chose cheerful and graceful roles. Now, I am attracted to stories that I want to see spread to the world, even if they do not attract a large audience” - Park Jung Min expressed.
