On March 10, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung had a working session with the Hollywood film director delegation.
The Hollywood film crew led by Ms. Rose Lam, global production director of Riot Studios (under Riot Games, based in Los Angeles, USA) visited and surveyed filming locations in Vietnam, according to information from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
After surveying Japan, Korea, Thailand..., the film crew found that Cat Ba (Hai Phong) in Vietnam was the ideal setting for the film. The delegation hopes to receive active support from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and local authorities.
Mr. Nicholas Simon, CEO and producer of Indochina Productions, said that Riot Games filming a TV series in Hai Phong will be a great opportunity to promote Vietnam.
Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung assessed that the presence of the film crew in Vietnam at this time has concretized the signing of a cooperation agreement between Vietnam and the US as well as partners in the field.
The Minister said that in recent times, Vietnam has proactively coordinated with many countries to develop cinema, promoting the advantages of beautiful natural landscapes and friendly people.
Cinema has made and is making an important contribution to Vietnams GDP development, said Minister Nguyen Van Hung.
The Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese Government and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism are ready to continue cooperating with US partners to develop cinema and tourism, contributing to the common development of the two countries.
Ms. Rose Lam expressed her hope that when Riot Studios' next project is started filming, it will contribute to spreading the image of Vietnam tourism to international friends.
Based on compliance with legal regulations and subject to permitted conditions, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Hai Phong City will actively support the film crew.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will propose to relevant units to create visa conditions for film crews.
The Minister also suggested that this cooperation must comply with Vietnam's legal regulations, including the Film Law.
The Minister hopes that during the production process, the film crew will minimize issues related to violence or world cinema issues of concern.
