The film Hyper Knife tells the story of the strained relationship between genius doctor Jung Se Ok (Park Eun Bin) and her teacher - Choi Deok Hee (Sol Kyung Gu). After being betrayed by his teacher and having his practice license revoked, Se Ok had no choice but to continue working in the dark.
After airing on the afternoon of March 19, the film "Hyper Knife" continuously received positive feedback from the audience, despite being limited in age (the film was labeled 19+) thanks to its unique plot and excellent transformation of the actors.
Thanks to that, in just 2 days, the film has risen to No. 1 in the Disney+ Korea TV show category and maintained that top position for 3 consecutive weeks.
According to FlixPatrol, the film also holds the No. 1 position in Hong Kong (China), Taiwan (China). In addition, the film Hyper knife became the most watched Korean content globally and in the Asia-Pacific region on Disney+ just 7 days after its release.
Korean media assessed that Park Eun Bin continues to have more "for life" roles.
With Hyper Knife, Wikitree commented that the actress has a haunting transformation, grasping Se Oks obsession with the brain and surgery, as well as her complex, distorted relationship with Deok Hee.
Along with that, the facial expressions, tone, gestures and psychology of an unpredictable character were convincing for her.
Before saying goodbye to the movie Hyper Knife, Park Eun Bin said that she had spent 5 months filming very intensely.
I discovered strange, subtle emotions that I had never known before. I hope viewers can feel those unique connections and wonder, Why do such people exist?. That is my biggest wish".
Accordingly, the film ended airing on April 9. However, with an open ending, when Se Ok meets his teacher again in the operating room after a long time, many people have high expectations for part 2 of the film.
Speaking about this with Newsen, director Kim Jung Hyun shared: This is not something an individual can decide. Although Se Ok basically has all the characteristics of a criminal film, Hyper Knife is not a story about being chased or confronted by the police.
This is the reason I made the ending with the premise that Se Ok would be living somewhere, doing something she really loved. If there is an expansion of the character, there may be a part 2. I myself want to keep the ending. I'm not sure about season 2, but the spinoffs could be released at any time.
