Phuong My Chi is the female lead in Huynh Lap's film "House of Ancestors". According to Box Office Vietnam, the project has earned more than 117 billion VND (as of the afternoon of February 5).
In the film, she plays My Tien - the person who can see the ghost of her brother Gia Minh (Huynh Lap). The 22-year-old singer said that when she read the script, she was nervous, not knowing whether to release all her energy or restrain herself. Not learning professional acting, in the early days of filming, she was addicted and was not used to the working atmosphere on set.
In the project "House of Ancestors", Phuong My Chi acted well. However, she still showed some limitations in acting.
Before filming "House of Ancestors", the female singer participated in the movie "Hai Lua".
"Hai Luoi" is one of the four films shown for Tet in 2014. The film is a comedy genre, exploiting the relationships and love of homeland of the common people and poor workers in rural settings.
Phuong My Chi has her first role in the movie Hai Lua. Although widely advertised before being released in theaters, all of the female singer's lines are only encapsulated in the three folk songs at the end of the film. The audience felt that Phuong My Chi was being "injected" by the director to attract the audience. However, this project was not very successful, and was criticized by the audience for its script.
After that, Phuong My Chi switched to acting in sitcoms. She plays a female student with an innocent personality in the sitcom "Aunt Rose's Flower Shop", co-starring with Nam Thu, Anh Duc...
The film is about a flower seller family, in which Phuong My Chi plays the role of Ti Ni, a 17-year-old girl, the shop owner. She is cheerful and often takes care of her grandmother (Ngoc Hoa), father (Hoang Phi) and stepmother (Nam Thu). Ti Ni is the cause of funny and sad situations in the house.
Phuong My Chi once shared that it was her first time participating in a sitcom but she was not pressured. The singer said: "I have acted in some projects but this time I feel most comfortable because there are many similarities between the characters. I don't have to carry it up to act in Ti Ni. I don't care about the salary, I see this as an opportunity to learn and gain more acting experience".
In 2021, Phuong My Chi confirmed that she would star in the movie Summer 1999. However, until 2025, this project has not been released.
"Summer 1999" tells the story of three generations: grandmother - mother - daughter connected by the fierce, passionate memories of each person's youth. However, in their current lives, they accidentally lose each other because of words that are not in the same generation.
And the summer of 1999 coincidentally appeared and created a bond that made family affection more appreciated and closer.
In the film, Phuong My Chi plays Minh. Minh is a 15-year-old girl who lived with her grandmother in 2015. Coincidentally finding old video tapes of his mother that had been away for many years, Minh one by one revealed the secrets of his mother's youth in the summer of 1999.
Phuong My Chi at that time revealed that she really loves acting, had auditioned many times but failed all. However, when receiving a role in the film "Summer 1999", the female singer was very happy.
