Tourism services are lacking in every way.
According to the leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai province, up to now, the province has about 390 accommodation establishments, with about 4,950 rooms, including 4 4-star hotels and equivalent, 8 3-star hotels. The accommodation system in the province is mostly small-scale, star-rated hotels account for a very low percentage. According to statistics, during peak tourist season, holidays and Tet, room occupancy reaches about 60%.
Currently, the province does not have a high-class resort or entertainment area that meets 5-star standards to serve international visitors and tourists with high spending ability, especially lacking 4-5 star hotels. In addition, some establishments have not focused on investing in upgrading facilities, lack of professionalism in design, decoration, equipment is not uniform, monotonous and degraded, lack of supporting services such as restaurants, bars, swimming pools... so they have not met the increasing demands of tourists.
In recent years, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, most accommodation service businesses have encountered difficulties after a long period of closure, with degraded facilities and limited financial resources, hindering investment, upgrading facilities and diversifying services to serve tourists.
Few investors come to the province to develop tourism projects
According to the leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai province, for tourism development projects that are behind schedule, no longer in line with relevant planning and cannot access land, the province has worked with investors, leading to investors voluntarily terminating project activities.
Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, attracting investors to survey and invest in tourism projects in the province has not been much; some investors have proposed investment projects but had to suspend them because they could not access land; some projects are being implemented slowly and tentatively due to limited financial capacity, not in accordance with the planning... leading to limited and undiversified accommodation infrastructure in the province, not meeting the needs of organizing large-scale and national events and activities. In addition, the province has not yet had preferential policies and mechanisms to attract investment in this field.
According to the leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai province, in the coming time, the number of tourists and business visitors to Quang Ngai is forecasted to continue to increase, so the province needs to continue to promote and attract investment in developing high-end accommodation complex projects with international brands, especially 3-5 star hotels in key tourist areas, industrial parks in the province and capable of organizing large-scale, national-level activities and seminars.
