Lunar New Year is the golden time for filmmakers to release many impressive new works to serve the audience. This year, the 9-day Tet holiday promises to be an explosive time for the Vietnamese box office with many outstanding domestic and international films.
For the domestic film market, Vietnamese cinemas "introduced" 3 new works: "The Four Guardians", "Love by Mistake" and "The Billion Dollar Kiss". All 3 are romantic comedies, released on the first day of Tet (January 29).
"The Four Guardians" directed by Tran Thanh, with the main content revolving around the gradually cooling marriage of Quoc Anh (Quoc Anh) and Quynh Anh (Tieu Vy). The appearance of Karen (Ky Duyen) causes the couple's feelings to crack. At this time, their lives are disrupted by the quartet including Aunt Bon (Le Giang), Uncle Muoi Mot (Tran Thanh), Kieu (Uyen An) and Chet-Xi-Ca (Le Duong Bao Lam).

Meanwhile, Thu Trang's "Billion Dollar Kiss" tells the story of the relationship between banh mi seller Van (Thien An) and two guys (Le Xuan Tien, Ma Ran Do) after an accident. Through many funny situations, the trio gradually understand each other better and realize their true feelings.
Finally, "Love by mistake best friend" is a remake of the once-famous Thai film "Friend Zone". The film tells the story of a pair of friends of the opposite sex, who have been together, witnessing each other through many relationships. In the end, they bravely cross the line of friendship to come together, building happiness together.
In terms of content, all three films are quite light-hearted, promising to bring comfortable, relaxing moments to the audience. Romantic comedies are also suitable for the cheerful atmosphere and entertainment needs of the public at the beginning of the year.
In the foreign film market, 3 animated films were released on the first day of Tet including "The Goat Knight and the 7 Royal Treasures", "The Thousand Pound Heist" and "Paddington: The Adventures of Paddington".

Over 100 minutes long, "Paddington: The Adventures of Paddington" takes audiences on a journey with the beloved bear in search of his missing Aunt Lucy. Paddington and the Brown family set out into the Peruvian wilderness to search for her, with the only clue to her whereabouts being a marker on a mysterious map.
As for "The Thousand Pound Heist," the film tells the story of a pig named Hitpig, who specializes in capturing runaway animals and returning them to their owners. A mission to return a dancing elephant named Pickles to a Vegas showman leads Hitpig reluctantly on a wild adventure around the world. In the end, Hitpig realizes that the greatest reward is not capturing the animals, but giving them freedom.

"The Knight Goat and the 7 Royal Treasures" revolves around a goat who works as a barber, suddenly becomes a "nanny" taking care of 7 royal "guardians" of the animal kingdom. From there, the group faces many humorous and interesting situations, bringing the audience hearty laughter.

Thus, this year's Tet holiday, audiences will have only two options when going to the cinema: watching Vietnamese films or animated films. Animated films will appeal to families with young children and multi-generational families. Vietnamese films with family drama and comedy genres are easy to watch and suitable for audiences of all ages.
Compared to last year, the 2024 Tet movie season has a small number of films, mainly competing in theaters between Vietnamese films. With this condition, the box office market promises to have more works that earn hundreds of billions of VND and break the records of previous leading films.
