Recently, the International Federation of Recording Industry (IFPI) announced the Top 20 best-selling singles globally in 2025. The ranking is based on the total sales of singles sold in the year, including listens from paid accounts, platforms with ads and individual songs downloads.
Rosé (Blackpink) and Bruno Mars' single "APT." was honored by IFPI at number 1, closing one of the most competitive years of this chart to date.
According to the announcement, the collaboration between Rosé and Bruno Mars has made history in many aspects: becoming the first champion song with non-English lyrics, and also the first single to top the global charts led by artists outside North America and Europe.
In particular, Rosé is the first Kpop artist in history to have a song top the annual IFPI global best-selling single chart.
The previous highest achievement belonged to PSY's "Gangnam Style" in 2012, with 3rd place. Meanwhile, BTS once entered the charts with 4th place in 2021 thanks to the single "Butter".

IFPI said that the achievement of "APT." comes from a synchronous global release strategy, combining radio, streaming platforms and marketing activities in many regions, helping the song maintain long-term heat after its release.
APT." stayed 45 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached the top position in 3rd place. This is also the first time Bruno Mars' single has reached Top 1 on the IFPI global singles chart since "Just the way you are" in 2011.
In 2025, "APT." reached 2.06 billion units, surpassing "Golden" - the soundtrack of "KPop Demon Hunters" (2 billion units) at 2nd place; "Ordinary" by Alex Warren (1.9 billion units) at 3rd place; "Die With A Smile" by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars (1.86 billion units) at 4th place; "Beautiful Things" by Benson Boone (1.35 billion units) at 5th place.
Victoria Oakley, CEO of IFPI, said: "Rosé and Bruno Mars topping IFPI Global Single Chart with "APT." is an important milestone. This year's results also show the global influence of the current music market, as songs can connect beyond language and borders.
