"Red Rain" is a feature film about revolutionary war, scripted by writer Chu Lai. The film's content is inspired and fictionalized from the event of 81 days and nights of brave and resilient fighting of the people, officers and soldiers protecting the ancient citadel of Quang Tri in 1972,
That 81-day and night became a legend, one of the most vivid manifestations of the aspiration for independence, freedom, and national reunification of the Vietnamese people in the resistance war against the US to liberate the nation.
It was the fierce battle of 81 days and nights to protect Quang Tri ancient citadel that contributed to the victory on the Paris Conference negotiation table, paved the way for the great victory in the spring of 1975, liberating the South, reuniting the country.
And today, in the joyful atmosphere of the entire nation, that story is told tragically and heroically by a film project called "Red Rain" of the People's Army Cinema.
The trailer begins with the sound of flares, opening with the sound of heavy bombs and explosive bullets.
Despite the burnt soil, the sky under the sky, the water is fluttering, the soldiers still move forward. The audience was looking back at the summer of 1972 intense but full of emotion, recounted through the youthful, brave faces of the 1st platoon - the boys carrying the enthusiasm of the twenties entered the battlefield, with all the passionate beliefs and patriotism.
There is no free blue sky but dark nights lit by fireworks, by the fire of bombs, by the dark red color dyed on the soldier's shirt. That pain, but also that glory.

After the sound of bombs and bullets, there was a bright, optimistic smile from the soldiers. In the rare moments of rest, there are still sparkling eyes and innocent faces, they still write poetry and music like when they were still sitting in the chair. Each person has a deep deep regret, but when they gathered here, they considered Quang Tri as their hometown, considered the ancient citadel as their home, and their comrades became relatives.
However, how can we not regret it in our twenties? When each person fell down one by one, the military doctor (played by Hua Vi Van) had to exclaim chokingly: "Every day we lose hundreds of people".
The song's lyrics where the ancient citadel wrote in the language of the volunteers, sweat, and bones of the young soldiers for independence and unity.
To recreate the historical setting of the war in Quang Tri ancient citadel, the film crew of "Red Rain" built a large-scale studio in Quang Tri town, Quang Tri province, next to Thach Han river.
The film is scheduled to be released on September 2, 2025.
