On the afternoon of September 21, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports responded regarding the professional responsibility, ethics and culture of behavior of art practitioners, in the context that debates surrounding artist Truong Giang continue to receive attention.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, in addition to complying with the provisions of law on performing arts activities, art practitioners need to pay attention to maintaining professional ethics and culture of behavior. This requirement is even more placed on artists who have a great influence on the public.
The Department cited the Code of Conduct for people working in the arts, issued together with Decision No. 3196/QD-BVHTTDL dated December 13, 2021 of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Accordingly, art practitioners need to respect the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals; not to harm the collective prestige, health, honor and dignity of others.
In relationships with colleagues, artists need to respect and protect the reputation of colleagues; be honest and responsible in speaking out, expressing and sharing views, avoiding harming the reputation and legitimate rights of others.
From the above principles, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports emphasizes that artists, especially influential people, need to be fully aware of professional responsibility and social responsibility, maintain professional prestige and honor, and at the same time behave civilized and properly with colleagues and the public.
However, management agencies also note that they should not rush to conclude for a specific case based only on the content being spread.
According to the Department, the review needs to be based on fully verified information, placing the act in a specific context, nature and level, and then comparing it with legal regulations as well as relevant standards of conduct. Therefore, making judgments based only on images and information shared in the media and social networks needs to be carried out cautiously.
The Department's response was issued after many videos, statements and situations featuring Truong Giang in previous programs were shared again, creating mixed debates.
On September 14, Truong Giang spoke up, admitting that there were times when he was not sophisticated enough, not mature enough, and apologized to those who were hurt because of him.
Two days later, the male artist announced his absence from the next recording session of "2 Days 1 Night", saying he wanted to spend time looking back and learning more.
