According to sources in the investment banking industry, singer Suga of BTS invested in private aerospace company SpaceX through Link Asset Partners - the first Korean asset management company to invest in SpaceX when this business was not yet listed.
Suga is currently said to still hold SpaceX shares, although the scale of the investment has not been determined, but it is known that the profit earned is very large.
The male singer is said to have invested before 2022, with a cautiously estimated profit of about 20 times the initial capital. If the investment was made in 2020, the current profit could be up to about 40 times.
The business value of SpaceX, founded by billionaire Elon Musk, was estimated at about 46 billion USD in 2020, then increased to about 100 billion USD in 2021 thanks to funding rounds.
On June 12, SpaceX officially listed on the stock exchange, with an initial offering price (IPO) of 135 USD/share, equivalent to a market capitalization of about 1.77 trillion USD on the first trading day.
Regarding this information, a representative of HYBE - the management company of the BTS group - said: "We can hardly confirm issues related to the personal lives of artists".
As someone who participated in composing, writing lyrics and producing many famous songs of BTS, Suga has long affirmed his position as a singer, rapper, and music producer.
Besides, he is also famous for having a keen investment eye. Previously, Suga invested in the Athletics club of the US Major League Soccer (MLB). At that time, this investment in potentially growing unlisted assets also attracted much attention.
Meanwhile, Suga and BTS started the European tour of the global tour "Arirang" on June 26 at Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, Spain.
After that, the group will continue to organize 10 performances in 4 other major European cities including Brussels (Belgium), London (England), Munich (Germany) and Paris (France).
