According to Box Office Vietnam, as of 1:30 PM on August 2, "Sounds Beyond the Ocean" ranked 5th in the daily revenue chart with about 755 million VND, selling 7,640 tickets through 196 screenings. The film officially premiered nationwide from July 24, telling the story of the patriotic spirit and desire for freedom of revolutionary soldiers at Con Dao Prison in the period 1945-1954.
Leading the box office is "Spider-Man 4: New Beginning" with nearly 14 billion VND, selling 133,338 tickets through 4,657 screenings. The work marks the reappearance of superhero Spider-Man on the big screen, continuing to promote the appeal of the Marvel brand and quickly overwhelming the Vietnamese box office right at the end of the first week of release.
Followed by "The Odyssey", which grossed over 2 billion VND from 19,152 tickets and 532 screenings. The epic film is adapted from Homer's famous epic, attracting attention thanks to its large production scale and a cast of famous actors.
Right behind is "Conan Movie 29", reaching over 2 billion VND, selling 21,584 tickets with 1,330 screenings. The film brand adapted from the famous Detective Conan comic series continues to prove its stable appeal in Vietnam, especially to young audiences and anime fans.
In fourth place, "Minions & Quái Vật" achieved revenue of over 900 million VND, selling 8,296 tickets through 430 screenings. The animated film is aimed at family audiences - a popular choice during the summer, contributing to maintaining the heat of international animated films in theaters.
The daily revenue ranking now almost belongs to foreign works. The four leading positions are all foreign films with advantages in brand, distribution scale and large screenings. In that context, the appearance of "Sounds Beyond the Ocean" - a State-ordered film - shows that this film genre still has the opportunity to reach audiences when commercially released instead of just serving specialized screenings.
