Shu Qi and Stephen Fung have been married for 10 years, the star couple has no children yet, still traveling everywhere together, visiting art exhibitions and enjoying life.
But behind the marriage that no longer has theirs is the arduous "finding children" journey that lasted nearly a decade. A interview by Shu Qi reveals her desire to become a mother that is being concerned about.
The actress and director born in 1976 revealed that for the past 9 years she has always tried to get pregnant, has performed in vitro fertilization more than ten times but all were unsuccessful. Sitting next to her, Phung Duc Luan choked up and said: "I owe her a lifetime".
In 2016, while filming "Hiệp đạo liên minh" together, Shu Qi and Stephen Fung suddenly announced their marriage. They did not hold a lavish wedding party, only took a few photos to complete the ritual.
However, few people know that right on her wedding day, Shu Qi considered preparing for pregnancy as a top priority. She rejected Vuong Gia Ve's new script, rejected many luxury brand representative contracts and almost disappeared from showbiz.
Her daily life only revolves around hospitals, traditional medicine and calculating ovulation times. The tea table in the house is full of supplements, needles and ovulation tests.
Because in her youth she often dieted to maintain her figure in the picture, and worked day and night on the film set for a long time, her health was seriously affected.
Test results showed that Shu Qi's AMH index was only 0.8, meaning that ovarian reserves were almost half lower than women of the same age.

After that, she entered a long in vitro fertilization journey, experiencing more than ten painful egg aspiration sessions. There were two times when the pregnancy test strip showed two blurry lines, she hugged Phung Duc Luan and burst into tears of happiness. But when she went to the hospital for a blood test, the HCG index did not meet the requirements and the fetus could not be kept.
During that time, Shu Qi did not dare to meet friends because she was afraid of an unintentional question: "Why don't you two still have children?".
Once, when leaving the hospital with results not as expected, Phung Duc Luan suddenly pulled Thu Ky into her favorite hotpot restaurant and said: "Today you just order spicy and cold dishes as you like. Let's not force ourselves anymore" That was the first time in 9 years that she had reused ice soy milk and ate the spicy hotpot that she had been abstaining from for a long time.
Later, the two sat down to talk and decided not to be stubborn with the thought of "definitely having children on their own". They began to consider the possibility of adopting children and by 2025 had begun to carry out adoption procedures. The two also affirmed that they would not choose surrogacy.
Shu Qi's contemplation of a complete family actually originates from half a life full of upheavals.
Shu Qi's mother gave birth to her when she was only 18 years old, and her father was hot-tempered. When she was young, whenever she heard her father's motorbike sound from afar, she was scared and ran into the wardrobe.
At the age of 13, she went to work to help her family. At the age of 16, she was discovered by a talent hunter and took a sexy photo set.
Later, thanks to the movie "Sắc tình nam nữ", she was nominated for the Hong Kong Film Awards (China), gradually removing the label of "sexy movie star" that once haunted her.
After publicly getting married in 2016, Stephen Fung's family never mentioned Shu Qi's past. Her mother-in-law often held her hand and said: "Children are fate, you are the most important thing".
During the years of trying to get pregnant, Shu Qi always felt guilty for not being able to give birth to a child for her husband's family, and it was her mother-in-law who comforted and encouraged her many times.
