Nguyen Thanh Van was born in 1985 in Hanoi, and was once known by the names Thanh Van Hugo and Van Hugo. The reason for this nickname is because Thanh Van once hosted the program Vui with Hugo.
Van Hugo has been famous since participating in the sitcom project Nhat ky Vang Anh. When his name was on the rise in many fields, from TV host, TV host to actor, Van Hugo temporarily stopped working and went to Switzerland to study for a master's degree at SHMS Swiss Hotel Management School (website: https://www.shms.com).
In a conversation with reporters, Van Hugo once said that it was a difficult time for her in Switzerland.
Van Hugo said she rented a small wooden house on a mountain in Leysin (a famous skiing area in Switzerland). Every day, she has to walk from home to the train station to go to school. The house she rents is located on the mountainside, so every day she has to go up and down the slippery mountainside. Especially on days of snowfall, the mountain slopes are much smoother, causing Van Hugo to slide many times.
Life in Switzerland is also considered very expensive. Van Hugo has worked part-time to make ends meet. Van Hugo said that to buy a plot of water spinach, she also had to go very far, and buy a plot of vegetables at "sky-high" prices. The extra money to work for must be spent very frugally to cover monthly living in Switzerland.
After nearly a year of hard work in Switzerland, Van Hugo happily returned to Hanoi, but she shared that she still misses the wooden house on the mountainside, remembers the days of white snowfall, remembers the roads she has passed through, and especially remembers the good friends who are international students there.
Before going to Switzerland to study abroad, Thanh Van Hugo studied at Kim Lien High School, graduated from the Academy of International Relations (now the Diplomatic Academy).
In recent years, Van Hugo has been less active in the arts. She participated in the show Sister Who Makes Wave season 1 in 2023. Van Hugo changes investment direction to education. Currently, she lives happily with her husband after getting married for the second time.
