Boat owner admits violation
On August 19, Thuan Hoa Ward People's Committee said that it had worked with the owner of the tourist boat with registration number HUE-1239 related to the reflection of littering into the Perfume River.
According to the minutes of the meeting, Mr. N.V.L. - the vehicle owner - confirmed that the content reflected on social networks was true. The act of discharging beer cans and plastic bottles into the Perfume River was carried out by staff on the boat.
The vehicle owner admitted that this act violated environmental protection regulations, affecting the landscape and tourism environment of Hue City. Mr. L. committed to rectifying staff, collecting and treating waste in accordance with regulations and not allowing similar incidents to recur.
Previously, information and images appeared on social networks reflecting the waste, including beer cans and plastic bottles, being thrown from a tourist boat into the Perfume River. After receiving the reflection, Hue City functional forces intervened to verify.
Regarding the incident, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hue City has sent documents to the Department of Culture and Sports, Department of Tourism, Department of Construction, City Infrastructure Management and Exploitation Center, Thuan Hoa Ward People's Committee and businesses and individuals with tourist boats operating on the Perfume River to request handling and rectification.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the act of littering in the Perfume River affects the landscape, environment, urban aesthetics and the image of Hue being green, clean, bright, and civilized in the eyes of people and tourists.
Comprehensive correction
The Department of Agriculture and Environment requested the Hue City Infrastructure Management and Exploitation Center to direct the Management Board of Toa Kham Tourist Boat Wharf to urgently provide dossiers and documents related to boat HUE-1239 to the People's Committee of Thuan Hoa ward for further verification and handling according to regulations.
Notably, the Department requested not to issue a departure order for boat HUE-1239 if the vehicle does not fully meet the conditions for departure, including environmental sanitation conditions.
Relevant agencies are also requested to comprehensively inspect the operating conditions of vehicles according to regulations on inland waterway tourist transport and relevant legal regulations. If violations are detected, they must be handled according to their authority.
From this incident, the Department of Agriculture and Environment requested to strengthen inspection of the operation of tourist boats on the Perfume River; thoroughly instruct vehicle operators, crew members, service staff and tourists not to litter or discharge waste into the river.
Vehicle owners must be responsible for management, operation and waste generated during operation.
The Department also requests businesses, organizations, and individuals not to let similar cases recur. Serious violations, recurrence violations, or failure to ensure operating conditions will be proposed to apply sanctions according to regulations.
