Many Chinese audiences are upset with the way the film's female lead details are built.
In particular, at the beginning of episode 9, the female lead On Di Pham (Chuong Nhuoc Nam) encountered harassment on the way; up to now, the audience has counted too many times the female lead encountered similar problems.
As in the latest scene where the female lead was harassed, the film crew described in detail many unnecessary scenes such as a man harassing on the streets in clothes, creating an uncomfortable feeling for the audience.
The audience criticized the director and screenwriter for making mistakes in trying to highlight the female lead's weaknesses; they asked the film crew to delete the unnamed scene.
The audience believes that continuously building details makes the female lead weak (compared to the story) and needs the male lead to help - partly destroying the image and personality of the female lead.
Because On Di Pham is a strong person. In many difficult situations, she saved herself (in the story, she knows how to report to the police, knows how to provide evidence, knows how to go to another safer place when being harassed), but in the film, she was almost helpless.
In the story, whether the male lead is or not, she still lives well, only the appearance of the male lead makes her realize that she can deserve better things.
The way the female lead was built in the movie "Daring" caused controversy because the female lead's existence seemed to be saved by the male lead. This style of character setup is outdated and no longer attractive to the audience.
