The Trinh Van Bo - Tran Huu Duc route (section through Cau Dien ward, Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi) has recently experienced frequent congestion, especially on rainy days and rush hour.
At times, the line of vehicles was more than 500m in line.
Many people believe that the cause of the above situation is that since around October 2024, the authorities have adjusted traffic lights at the intersections of Nguyen Van Giap - Tran Huu Duc and Trinh Van Bo - Phuc Dien (Nam Tu Liem district).
Accordingly, the red light beam at the two intersections above is very long (over 100 seconds - PV). At the same time, at some times, when the red light is still 20 seconds, stand still in all 3 directions.
Meanwhile, the green light span of only a few dozen seconds prevented vehicles from leaving the intersection, causing congestion.
During the traffic regulation process, the traffic police force often had to let vehicles go about 20 seconds earlier than the red light to relieve congestion.
In the face of the above situation, the Commander of Road Traffic Police Team No. 6 (Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police) coordinated with representatives of the Traffic Works Maintenance Board (Hanoi Department of Transport) to conduct a field survey and discuss solutions.
As planned, from February 24, the Traffic Construction Maintenance Board will pilot the barrier of the Tran Huu Duc - Nguyen Van Giap intersection to reduce conflicts. At the same time, turn off traffic lights at this intersection.
Vehicles that want to turn from Tran Huu Duc Street to Nguyen Van Giap must turn around at the opening points.
In the immediate future, Road Traffic Police Team No. 6 will increase the number of officers and soldiers on duty to direct traffic and regulate traffic, especially during rush hour to ensure people travel most conveniently.
