The Navy Museum is a museum specializing in military history, established on January 4, 1975, displaying artifacts and weapons that may be large, reflecting the characteristics and achievements of the Navy's combat construction.
Among the artifacts at the Navy Museum, a typical example is the Military Transport Ship HQ671 - The Ship "No Number" recognized as a National Treasure on December 25, 2017.
Ship HQ671 was launched in 1962, belonging to the 125th Naval Brigade. During the resistance war against the US to save the country, the ship transported 20 shipments with nearly 400 tons of weapons directly supplying the Southern battlefield to the ports in Quang Ngai, Phu Yen, Ba Ria, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau... contributing significantly to many victories on the Southern and South Central battlefields.
During the General Offensive and Uprising in the spring of 1975, the ship directly participated in the liberation of Son Ca Island. When the event of March 14, 1988 occurred, the ship overcame the opponent's blockade and threats, protecting the sovereignty of the Truong Sa archipelago. Ship HQ671 has gone through the most heroic period in the history of the nation, being the only remaining ship among the "numberless" ships that made up the legend of the Ho Chi Minh Trail at sea.
The ship has been twice awarded the title of Heroic Unit of the People's Armed Forces by the state. 8 officers and soldiers from different periods were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces. On December 25, 2017, the HQ671 ship was recognized as a national treasure by the Prime Minister.
At the Navy Museum, the HQ671 ship is solemnly displayed outdoors. In addition to the HQ671 ship, the Navy Museum currently displays many artifacts such as the KA 25 aircraft, a type of submarine fighter jet of the 954th Naval Air Regiment; the 689 tank on display at the Museum is a tank of the 867th Battalion - the combat force of the 126th Naval Brigade... Every year, the museum attracts tens of thousands of visitors to visit, learn about the history of the Vietnam People's Navy as well as admire the precious treasures and artifacts here.
