On December 23, at the Traditional House for Conserving and Promoting the Cultural Values of the Thai ethnic group, Chieng Kim village, the People's Committee of Yen Chau commune enthusiastically organized a new rice festival.
This is an important traditional ceremony of the Thai ethnic group, demonstrating the morality of "remembering the source of water when drinking" and gratitude to heaven and earth, ancestors after a year of labor and production.

The festival is organized in two parts: the ceremony and the festival. During the ceremony, the new rice offering ceremony took place solemnly with traditional offerings such as pigs, chickens, wine, sticky rice, rice, green rice, fruit...
The worshiper representative of the community offered his condolences to the ancestors, sky, earth and the gods who have blessed the village with favorable weather, a bumper crop season, healthy children and grandchildren, and a prosperous life. After the ceremony, the monk will share the fruits with everyone with his best wishes for health and peace.

The festival was exciting with an art exchange program with special performances such as xoe dance, folk song singing, traditional musical instrument performance and folk games such as walking on a hammock, playing with a wheelchair, throwing con, culinary competition... vividly recreating the rich cultural and spiritual life of the Thai people, attracting a large number of people and tourists.
According to Ms. Hoang Thi Thoat, Head of the Yen Chau Thai Town Cultural Conservation Club, the festival not only aims to preserve cultural identity but is also an opportunity to promote the image of the sweet banana and fragrant mango countryside to tourists from near and far, towards developing community cultural tourism.


Participating in the festival for the first time, Vi Van Vu, a Thai ethnic student studying in Hanoi, shared that this is an opportunity for the younger generation to understand more deeply about the origin, similarities and differences in Thai culture between regions.

Speaking about the significance of the festival, Mr. Lo Duc Viet, Vice Chairman of Yen Chau Commune People's Committee, said that the new Rice Festival contributes to strengthening the great community solidarity bloc, while creating a foundation to preserve and promote traditional cultural values associated with sustainable tourism development in the locality.
