Hanoi stops 8 activities on October 10th

On September 26, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh chaired a meeting of the Organizing Committee to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).

Reporting at the meeting, Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Do Dinh Hong said that the city has well organized information and propaganda activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day, the achievements in socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security of Hanoi over the past 70 years; promoting the image of the Capital on mass media.

The Organizing Committee has reported to the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee to consider and decide to stop and adjust the scale and time of organizing activities due to the impact of storm No. 3, which has caused great consequences and damage to a number of northern provinces and cities, including Hanoi.

Accordingly, the city stopped 8 activities, including stopping fireworks displays on the evening of October 10 at 30 locations in the city; stopping light art performances to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day.

The city also adjusted the scale and time of 7 activities, including reducing the scale of the special art program "Peace City - Flying Dragon City" on the evening of October 10, from being held at My Dinh National Stadium to being held at Thang Long Imperial Citadel.

The city also ensures conditions for facilities, equipment, security and order... to well organize the "Cultural Festival for Peace" to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital and the 25th anniversary of Hanoi being honored as "City for Peace".

Concluding the meeting, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh affirmed that the organization of events and programs in the series of activities celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital must ensure comprehensiveness and prominence, clearly demonstrating the role of the Capital for the whole country.

Mr. Tran Sy Thanh also suggested that information and communication work on the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day should be promoted, ensuring the right scope, level and suitability; clearly showing gratitude for the sacrifices of the Party Committee, government, army and people of Hanoi in particular and localities across the country in general who contributed to the liberation of the Capital more than 70 years ago.

The Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee requested units to focus on completing the reception plan, assigning specific tasks in the National Celebration and programs with the participation of Party and State leaders, local and international guests.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee also requested the People's Committees of 30 districts, towns and cities to direct the organization of environmental sanitation and decorate the streets "Green - Clean - Beautiful", creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere at the grassroots level and suitable to the practical conditions of the locality.
