Da Nang Museum has officially applied Herrystep AI automatic interpretation technology since 2025. This system uses positioning technology to automatically activate the interpretation when visitors approach the artifact.
Visitors only need to register at the reception counter to recognize specialized phones and headphones without downloading the application. This technology supports more than 10 languages and integrates virtual assistants allowing visitors to ask questions to receive answers directly about artifacts. Leaders of the Da Nang Museum said that the application of AI helps meet diverse language needs in the context of limited human resources for interpretation.
Ms. Hoai Tram, a tour guide, shared about the convenience of the new technology: "This form helps visitors to be more proactive than direct tour guides. Tourist attractions often stipulate a number of groups from 3 to 10 people to provide tour guide services at the location. With AI technology, individual visitors can still access information, easily review content and choose many different languages such as Vietnamese or Chinese depending on their needs.
At the Cham Sculpture Museum, the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center is also piloting the 3D Scan project. Matterport technology is used to scan the space of 4 main galleries including: Tra Kieu, My Son, Dong Duong and Thap Mam.
The project accurately recreates real space into a virtual environment, allowing users to interact and move directly through the device screen. In addition, 14 typical artifacts here have been integrated with introductory content and Audio Guide in Vietnamese and English. This is a test step for the city to deploy a virtual tourism system for many other destinations in the near future.
Digitization activities at the museum are part of the roadmap for implementing the Action Program of the Standing Committee of the Da Nang City Party Committee on cultural development. In which, Da Nang sets a goal to complete the digitization of 100% of cultural heritage that has been ranked at national and special national levels in 2026. To implement this vision, the city plans to allocate at least 2% of the total annual budget for the cultural sector. Da Nang also strives to achieve a growth rate of 10% per year for cultural industries.
Da Nang orients the construction of digital cultural infrastructure through the establishment of a large data platform on heritage, artisans and artists. The city will also plan and invest in large-scale cultural institutions such as the Opera House, modern cultural centers and the Cultural Museum of Quang region.
The Standing Committee of the Da Nang City Party Committee has assigned Party committees and authorities at all levels to review and amend mechanisms and policies to create a transparent legal corridor, unlocking all resources for Da Nang to become a heritage and creative city.
