The birthplace of the first revolutionary government in the Northern coastal region
Kim Son communal house in Tan Trao commune, former Kien Thuy district (now Kien Hung commune, Hai Phong city) was built at the end of the Later Le Dynasty. Because the divine relics of the communal house have been lost for a long time, the history of the character worshiped at the relic now only circulates in folk memory that it was a god who helped Kim Son people reclaim land and encroach on the sea, established villages from previous centuries, and taught people salt making. Therefore, when he died, local people built a communal house to worship him, revered him as the village tutelary god as the ancestor of the salt making profession.
The communal house is a historical witness, marking the high tide of the resilient struggle of our army and people in 1945. According to the History of the Hai Phong City Party Committee, on the morning of July 12, 1945, at Kim Son communal house, a meeting was held to establish the Kim Son National Liberation Committee - the first revolutionary government of Kien An province and the coastal region of Tonkin.

Associated with the hundred-year-old wrestling festival
With a long history, in 2005, Kim Son communal house was ranked by the state as a national revolutionary historical relic.
Mr. Dang Ba Hung - Head of Kim Son village - said that in 1946, Hai Phong entered the fight against French colonial invaders. Responding to the call of the Party and Uncle Ho, the people voluntarily dismantled 5 compartments of the communal house to carry out "resistance excavation", preventing the enemy's advance.
Kim Son communal house then only had a rear palace, which deteriorated over time. After that, local people called for and joined hands to repair and restore the communal house on the old ground. The restoration process kept the original architecture of the relic, which was a double-layered match stacking style with a curved roof, tiled roof, and a frame made of ironwood. In the communal house grounds, artifacts are currently displayed, which are the frame of the American aircraft that was shot down by our army and people and fell into the field area of Kim Son village (old).

Kim Son communal house relic is also famous for the Kim Son wrestling festival, which has a history of hundreds of years, associated with legends about training young men's health, fostering resilience and martial spirit, and praying for favorable weather, bumper crops, and prosperous villagers. Previously, the festival was held on the 6th day of the first lunar month in the communal house yard.
According to the People's Committee of Kien Hung commune, it is expected that in the Binh Ngo spring of 2026, the Kim Son wrestling festival will be held on a commune-level scale, associated with the Khai But Festival at the Mac Dynasty Memorial Area. Leaders of the Commune People's Committee emphasized that the Kim Son wrestling festival returning after many years of interruption promises to become a highlight in the series of spring cultural events of Kien Hung commune - a place to preserve and spread traditional cultural values to today's and future generations.
