On the afternoon of January 5, the mini-show Year-end Afternoon took place at the collective housing area No. 6 Tong Dan (Hanoi), in a house built in the 80s of the 20th century.
For nearly 50 years, the house has preserved historical milestones of Hanoi. There are memories and nostalgia of an unforgettable time.
In a nostalgic space, the mini-show Late Afternoon of the Year resounds with soulful Xam melodies, bringing with it the five-paneled Ao Dai imbued with cultural stories. It is a place for those working in culture, tourism, and heritage to open their hearts on the journey to reach their dreams.
The event with the theme of Heritage Tourism combines special performances, such as Ca Tru performance in a tea ceremony space, Ao Dai performance with Ca Tru music.
At the talk show, tourists had the opportunity to express their opinions and assessments of the art forms they had just enjoyed. Experts and people working in the fields of culture, heritage and tourism also gave their opinions and solutions to promote the development of heritage tourism in the era of national development.
Sharing at the event, Dr. Le Thi Minh Ly - Member of the National Cultural Heritage Council, former Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage - said that the next step of heritage tourism development is not far away but around life.
For example, old houses also have historical value, containing the memories of each family. The approach to heritage protection also needs to be expanded, not only preserving ancient values but also preserving the houses, architecture, and surrounding heritage. From there, young people and tourists can understand what life and production were like in Hanoi during the subsidy period.
Talking to Lao Dong reporter, Xam singing artist Thu Phuong also expressed her desire to bring Xam singing to a wider audience, especially the youth. She and experienced artists have combined and transformed Xam singing with modern music forms to renew this traditional art form.
"In the process of forming and developing folk music, it is necessary to cultivate different genres. Therefore, Xam singing can completely combine with modern musical materials to be closer to young people and spread more widely. Xam singing is like a rhyme with rhythm, melody, and many accompanying musical instruments to create bustling, joyful sounds.
I always feel proud and aware of my responsibility for the traditional profession passed down by my ancestors. I also hope to be able to promote, spread and inspire many young people to prolong the history of folk music," artist Thu Phuong confided.
In Hanoi alone, there are several genres of Xam that have been passed down to this day, such as Hanoi Xam, Electric Train Xam, and Nha Tro Xam... Xam songs incorporate many details and emotional states, have specific stories, and are sometimes told in the first or third person, giving Xam songs a very diverse range of nuances.
Also at the event, artist and art critic Nguyen Duc Binh highly appreciated the ao dai designs on display and the efforts to spread the ao dai heritage from within the country to international friends.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Binh affirmed that the ao dai plays an important role in the cultural life of Vietnamese people. Every Tet season, more and more people wear ao dai to go out in the spring, creating a beautiful image. However, the expert affirmed that people also need to pay attention to tailoring and choosing standard ao dai designs, not straying from the original beauty of the ao dai.
