AI-integrated camera technology helps upgrade UAV combat capabilities

AI-integrated camera technology helps upgrade the combat capabilities of UAVs, allowing data analysis and quick decision-making right at the scene.

Maris-Tech (Israeli defense technology company) is developing a gimbal camera system integrated with artificial intelligence (AI), to improve the ability to observe and analyze real-time for light unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

In the context of UAVs increasingly playing an important role in reconnaissance, surveillance and information gathering (ISR) missions, the requirement for compact but multi-functional sensor systems is also increasing.

The solution that Maris-Tech develops aims to integrate all important functions into a single device.

The new camera system combines a 4K resolution daytime camera with a thermal sensor, allowing clear recording in many different lighting and environmental conditions.

A notable point is the ability to analyze data using AI directly on the device, instead of relying on a remote processing system.

This on-site processing capability helps reduce data transmission latency, while allowing operators to make faster decisions right on the spot. This is considered an important factor in tasks that require immediate response.

The device is designed with strict criteria on size, weight and power consumption, suitable for small UAV platforms, where load space is limited but task requirements are increasingly complex.

According to Maris-Tech, this project does not start from scratch but inherits video and AI technologies that have been deployed on thousands of UAV systems before.

The goal is to optimize these technologies into a more compact, durable device that is suitable for the actual operating environment.

Mr. Israel Bar, CEO of Maris-Tech Company, said that demand from drone manufacturers, UAVs and defense integrated units is increasing sharply for integrated load solutions, combining images, data processing and AI.

The development of the new camera system reflects the general trend of the UAV industry, which is to closely integrate hardware and artificial intelligence to create smarter and more autonomous platforms.

Maris-Tech is expected to complete the development process by the end of 2026. When launched, the product is positioned as a "plug in and run" solution, helping new generation reconnaissance and surveillance UAVs significantly improve operational efficiency.
