A new weapon system called Hellhound S3 is opening up a completely different approach in modern combat, integrating anti-tank firepower into compact equipment that can be carried in soldiers' backpacks.
Developed by Cummings Aerospace (US defense technology company), Hellhound S3 uses 3D printing technology and turbo jet engines, allowing rapid deployment on the battlefield.
This system is designed in a modular form, helping operators to flexibly reconfigure it depending on the task.
Hellhound S3 is about 0.9 m long and weighs about 11–17 kg, small enough to carry in a backpack but still capable of attacking armored targets at long range.
The noteworthy point is that Hellhound S3 can be converted into many different forms such as flying weapons, precision guided bullets or one-way attack drones.
The configuration swap process takes less than two minutes and does not require support tools, helping soldiers adapt quickly to the actual situation.
The accompanying warhead modules are also very diverse, including armor penetration capability, debris damage or electronic warfare.
Thanks to that, this system can effectively deal with many types of targets, especially tanks and modern armored vehicles.
In terms of performance, Hellhound S3 can attack targets at a distance of up to 60 km, reaching a maximum speed of about 618 km/h.
This helps soldiers possess long-range attack capabilities that were previously only available in more bulky weapon systems.
According to the manufacturer, the Hellhound S3 has just completed tests with a specialized anti-tank warhead, showing its ability to destroy advanced armored targets. This is an important step forward before conducting aerial tests targeting more complex real-world targets.
This system is expected to be demonstrated with allied partners and participate in exercises with the US Department of Defense in the near future.
Experts assess that integrating strong firepower into compact equipment can change the operational methods of infantry, especially in the context of modern battlefields requiring high flexibility.
With fast production thanks to 3D printing technology, Hellhound S3 also promises to help the army expand its equipment scale at a reasonable cost.
