The leaders of Poland and the three Baltic states called on the European Union (EU) to increase financial support for plans to strengthen the eastern border, the first line of defense on the eastern side of the bloc.
In a letter to European Commission President Ursula von Der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa, the leaders warned of an increasing threat to the bloc and called for support with all available EU tools.

The four European countries are implementing two projects, the "Balt Border Guard" and the "Eastern Border Guard" to build reinforcements along the border with Russia and Belarus. The reinforcements include anti-tall barriers, battle lines and public works.
