On October 20, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province announced that it had just directed the implementation of promoting technological solutions to serve people and businesses, associated with population data, identification and electronic authentication.
This is an important step in the digital transformation roadmap of the aviation industry.
Accordingly, in the field of aviation transportation, the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to preside over and coordinate with departments, branches, sectors, media agencies, newspapers and People's Committees of communes and wards to promote propaganda about the benefits, meanings, processes and instructions for applying biometric technology in boarding procedures.
Cam Ranh International Airport is assigned to implement the directions of the Ministry of Finance and Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), ensuring the necessary equipment to operate biometric solutions associated with VNeID electronic identification and authentication in the entire aviation process.
Airlines such as Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet and ground service units will coordinate to guide passengers to use their citizen identification cards or VNeID electronic identification accounts to collect biometrics at the check-in counter or on the VNeID application.
Passengers can then go through the security checkpoint and the automatic boarding gate of the plane without having to present their identification documents as before, except in special cases where other valid documents are used.
In addition, the Provincial People's Committee requested the implementation of preferential policies, communication campaigns and direct instructions at airports to encourage people to form the habit of using biometric technology.
From December 1, 2025, 100% of passengers will complete the entire process - from ticket purchase, procedures, security checks to boarding flights - through the VNeID biometric application or self-service Kiosk system at Cam Ranh airport.
Applying biometrics and electronic identification not only helps save time and reduce congestion at checkpoints but also improves security, flight safety and passenger experience, towards a smart airport model in the future.
