In recent days, along the Nguyen Khoi route, many households have hired workers and machinery to demolish the houses in front, moving an average of 5-7 m deep to hand over the land.


Some houses after being reclaimed have been repaired by the owners, stabilized and continued to operate.
Standing in front of a newly built house, Mr. Mai Van Thanh (50 years old) shared: My family has handed over nearly 20 square meters of land, hired four workers to break down the wall and rebuild the house. When handing over the site, I just hope the project will be completed soon, the road will be more spacious, helping people in the South have more convenient directions to the center".



According to the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor), the Nguyen Khoi bridge and road project has a total investment of more than VND 3,724 billion.
Of which, the cost of compensation, resettlement support and relocation of technical infrastructure accounts for VND1,392 billion, the construction cost is VND1,619 billion.
In particular, the compensation work (formerly carried out in District 4) has 147 affected cases, including 21 organizations and 126 households, with a total reclaimed area of 8,938 m2. Of which, 12 households were completely cleared. The total estimated compensation cost is more than 1,000 billion VND.

According to the plan, the handover of the site will be completed in October 2025, the project will start construction in November 2025 and be completed in the fourth quarter of 2027.
The Nguyen Khoi bridge and road project will build an overpass system made of reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete, over 2.5 km long, from 6.5 m to 25.5 m wide, connecting District 7 (formerly) through District 1 (formerly), crossing Te Canal and Ben Nghe Canal.


In addition, the project also builds a bridgehead road of more than 1.1 km long, with a cross-section of 6.5 - 35 m. Nguyen Khoi service road is 626 m long, with a cross-section of 26.5 - 30 m. The service road on both sides of Hoang Trong Mau Street is 222 m long, 9 m wide on each side. Renovate and expand Vo Van Kiet Street towards Ben Nghe Canal, 863 m long, with a cross-section of 47.8 - 63.5 m.
The project also builds a drainage system, lighting, trees, technical cages, embankments and organizes traffic synchronously on a large scale.



When completed, Nguyen Khoi Bridge and Road will create a new traffic axis from the South to the center of Ho Chi Minh City, allowing vehicles to move from District 7 (formerly) to District 1 (formerly) via overpass, completely connecting to Vo Van Kiet Street.
Nguyen Khoi Bridge and Road will reduce traffic pressure on Nguyen Huu Tho - Kenh Te Bridge, Duong Ba Trac, Nguyen Tat Thanh routes, while reducing congestion in the internal area of District 4 (previously).
According to the Traffic Department, this is an important project in completing the Southern transport network, opening up new development space for Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the entire region.
