Prolonged heavy rain has caused 10 landslide points to appear on National Highway 279, passing through Muong Than commune, causing traffic to be cut off. To date, functional forces have not been able to determine the time of traffic opening.

On July 11, according to information from the Traffic Police Department of Lai Chau Provincial Police, due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain, at Km155 - Km156 National Highway 279, belonging to Sap Ngua village, Muong Than commune, there were 10 landslides of soil and rock from the positive slope overflowing into the road surface.

The volume of landslide soil and rock is estimated at about 2,000 m3, causing local congestion, and vehicles are currently unable to circulate through this area.

Immediately after the incident occurred, Road Traffic Police Team No. 3 under the Traffic Police Department of Lai Chau Provincial Police was present at the scene, coordinating with Road and Bridge Company No. 3 and Muong Than Commune Police to organize traffic diversion.

Functional forces ensure safety for people and vehicles, and at the same time deploy measures to overcome the consequences of landslides.

Up to now, functional forces have not determined the time of traffic opening because it is still necessary to continue to assess the scene and handle the large volume of soil and rocks spilling onto the road surface.

The Traffic Police Department of Lai Chau Provincial Police recommends that people and vehicles not move into the area Km155 - Km156 National Highway 279 until there is a new notice.

Follow the instructions of functional forces at the scene and proactively choose a suitable route to ensure safety.

Functional forces will continue to update information on the situation of incident remediation and the time of traffic opening when there are new developments.
